Terms of Service

Effective date: February 10, 2026

Welcome to Sale Scout, operated by HolmesLabsLLC ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these Terms, the Community Guidelines, and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Sale Scout.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to use Sale Scout.

Accounts

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. Notify us immediately at holmeslabsllc@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access. One person per account. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

Zero tolerance for abusive content or behavior

Sale Scout has a strict zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive users. Harassment, hate speech, threats, sexual content involving minors, doxxing, spam, fraud, and illegal goods are prohibited. Reports are reviewed and acted on within 24 hours; offending content is removed and offending accounts are suspended or permanently banned without refund. Use the in-app Report and Block controls on any sale, message, or seller profile.

Your content

You retain ownership of the listings, photos, messages, and posts you submit ("Your Content"). You grant Sale Scout a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reformat, and distribute Your Content as needed to operate the service. You represent that you have the rights to everything you post and that it does not violate our Community Guidelines.

Sale listings: what you promise when you post

When you post a garage, yard, estate, moving, or community sale, you agree that:

  • The sale is real and you have the right to hold it at the address you enter, and to sell the items you describe.
  • The address is accurate. The address you enter is shown publicly on the map and on your listing page to anyone using Sale Scout, including people who are not signed in. Never post someone else's address.
  • Dates and times are accurate and kept up to date. If your sale is cancelled, postponed, or sold out, update or cancel the listing.
  • Photos are yours. Only upload photos you took or have permission to use, showing the actual items or sale. No stock photos passed off as your items, and no photos of other people without their permission.
  • Prices and item descriptions are honest, and nothing prohibited is listed. See the Community Guidelines for the full list.

Our role: discovery only, no guarantees

Sale Scout lists sales that other people post. We are not the organizer, host, seller, or agent for any sale, and we are not a party to any transaction. We do not verify listings before they appear.

We make no guarantee that a listed sale is actually happening, that it starts or ends when stated, that the address is correct, that any item shown is still available, that prices are accurate, or that a seller or buyer will behave as expected. Always confirm before you travel.

Dealing with other people & personal safety

All interactions, visits, negotiations, payments, and pickups happen directly between you and the other person, offline and at your own risk. Sale Scout does not handle payments between buyers and sellers, does not hold funds, and does not act as an escrow or payment intermediary. Use common sense: meet in daylight where possible, bring someone with you, don't enter a stranger's home if you're uncomfortable, and don't share more personal information than a sale requires. If you feel unsafe or believe a crime has occurred, contact your local authorities first — then tell us.

Reporting, removal & suspension

Every listing has a Report this sale option, and you can report or block other members from their profile and from messages. Reports are reviewed by our team, normally within 24 hours. We may remove any listing or content, hide it from search and the map, limit an account's ability to post or message, or suspend or terminate an account — with or without notice — where we believe these Terms or the Community Guidelines have been broken, where content is unlawful, or where someone's safety is at risk. Suspended members can still browse and use the app, but cannot post sales, post on the community board, comment, or send messages. If you think we got it wrong, email holmeslabsllc@gmail.com to appeal. We keep records of reports and the actions we took, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Location services

Sale Scout works without device location: you can type a town or ZIP code instead. If you allow location access, we use it to show sales near you and to build routes. See the Privacy Policy for exactly how location is handled, and Cookie Policy for local storage.

Intellectual property

The Sale Scout name, logo, design, and software belong to HolmesLabsLLC. You may not copy, scrape, resell, or create derivative services from them. If you believe content on Sale Scout infringes your copyright, email holmeslabsllc@gmail.com with the work concerned, the listing URL, and your contact details, and we will investigate and remove infringing content where appropriate.

Paid features, refunds & disputes

Sale Scout is free to browse and free to post. Featured listings and route passes are one-time purchases — there is no subscription, no free trial, no auto-renewal, and nothing to cancel. Each purchase is billed once through Stripe, a receipt is emailed to you automatically, and a boost starts when payment is confirmed. See the Refund Policy for full details, including purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Refund policy. Because boosts and route passes deliver instantly, purchases are generally final. We will issue a full refund if (a) the paid feature failed to deliver due to a verified bug on our side, (b) the listing was removed by us for a policy violation you were not responsible for, or (c) a refund is required by law in your jurisdiction. Request a refund within 14 days at holmeslabsllc@gmail.com with your receipt and order details; we respond within 5 business days.

Disputes & chargebacks. Please contact us first — most issues are resolved faster than a bank dispute. If you file a chargeback for a transaction we would have refunded, we will not contest it. Fraudulent chargebacks may result in account suspension.

Prohibited conduct

You may not scrape the service, abuse rate limits, impersonate others, post the content listed in the Community Guidelines as prohibited, or use Sale Scout for any unlawful purpose. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms, in our sole discretion, with or without notice.

Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. Deletion removes your profile, listings, messages, and saved data within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

EULA (App Store users)

If you downloaded Sale Scout from the Apple App Store, your license is governed by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), with HolmesLabsLLC as the licensor. You acknowledge that Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for the app, and is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the app or your use of it. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

Disclaimer & liability

Sale Scout is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, including any warranty that listings are accurate, current, lawful, or that sales will take place. To the maximum extent permitted by law, HolmesLabsLLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss, injury, or dispute arising from a sale, a visit to a listed address, or any interaction between users. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and disputes will be handled by the state or federal courts located there. If you live outside the United States, this does not remove any protection or right to bring a claim locally that the law of your country of residence gives you. Please contact us first — nearly everything is resolved by email.

Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.
