Account information you provide when signing up: email address, display name, and an optional avatar image.
Content you post: sale listings, photos, messages to other users, community posts, reviews, and ratings.
Location data: coarse coordinates you share to find sales near you, and the addresses you attach to sales you host.
Usage data: pages visited, features used, device type, browser, and approximate region — used to improve the product and diagnose problems.
Cookies and similar technologies: a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a small number of first-party cookies for preferences.

How we use your information

Operate, maintain, and improve Sale Scout.
Show you nearby sales, route suggestions, and content relevant to your area.
Send notifications you opt into (reminders, replies, category matches, weekly digests). You can change these in notification preferences.
Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations.
Comply with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

Service providers who host our infrastructure, send email, or process payments on our behalf, under contract and only as needed to provide the service.
Other users, when you choose to publish a sale, send a message, or post in the community — the information you publish is visible to other users.
Authorities, when required by valid legal process or to protect the rights and safety of users.

Data retention

We keep account and content data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can manage most of this yourself from your account page, or contact us using the details below.

Children

Sale Scout is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify users by email or in-app message and update the "Last updated" date above.
