Community Guidelines

Sale Scout only works if people trust what they read. By posting a sale, messaging another user, or joining a community thread you agree to these rules.

Post honestly

  • Real sales only. No fake events, decoy listings, or "click bait" addresses.
  • Accurate date, time, and address. Update or cancel if plans change.
  • Photos must be of items actually for sale, taken by you or the seller.
  • Don't post the same sale twice — edit the one you already have.

Your sale address is public

The address you enter appears on the map and on your listing page for anyone using Sale Scout, including people who aren't signed in. Only post an address you're allowed to share, and never post someone else's home. If you'd rather not show a home address, use a nearby cross-street, a driveway entrance, or a community location and describe the rest in your listing.

Be respectful

  • No harassment, threats, hate speech, or personal attacks.
  • No doxxing — don't publish someone else's home address, phone, or private info.
  • Keep messages on-topic. No spam, mass DMs, or unsolicited promotions.

Prohibited content

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, and regulated weapons.
  • Alcohol, tobacco, vapes, cannabis, and controlled substances.
  • Live animals, human remains, or biological materials.
  • Stolen, recalled, or counterfeit goods.
  • Prescription medicines, medical devices, and baby products under recall.
  • Sexually explicit material, nudity, or content sexualizing minors.
  • Anything illegal to sell in your state or municipality.

Safety

  • Meet in daylight in a public spot when possible. Bring a friend for big-ticket pickups.
  • Cash and local payment apps only. Sale Scout never asks for wire transfers.
  • Sale Scout doesn't handle payments between buyers and sellers, so no one from Sale Scout will ever ask you to pay for an item through the app.
  • Trust your gut — if a listing or message feels off, report it.

Reporting & enforcement

Every sale page has a Report this sale option, and you can report or block a member from their profile or a message thread. When you report a sale you choose the reason:

  • Sale no longer exists or never happened
  • Wrong location or address
  • Incorrect information (date, time, details)
  • Scam or fraud concern
  • Inappropriate or offensive content
  • Prohibited item or content
  • Duplicate listing
  • Something else

We review reports within 24 hours. Depending on what we find, we may edit or remove a listing, hide it from the map and search, suspend an account's ability to post and message while keeping browsing available, or permanently ban an account — at our sole discretion and without refund of any boost or route-pass purchases. We keep a record of reports and the action taken. Repeat or severe violations are reported to law enforcement when appropriate. If someone is in danger or a crime has happened, contact your local authorities first.

Appeals

If you believe an action was taken in error, contact holmeslabsllc@gmail.com within 14 days and include your account email and a short explanation.
